Mardi Gras Indian

A rare sighting of the famous but elusive Indians in their costumes walking at a stately pace up and down a quiet stretch of St. Charles as the parades rolled by a few blocks away. They might walk at such a regal pace because their hand-beaded costumes have to weigh a lot. Even the shoes and gloves are beaded. They are magnificent.
